Confess and Be Comforted
As we come to the close of another day, and we wind down before bed, take some time to think about your day. Was it stressful? Was it joyful? Did you carry worries and concerns that caused you anxiety? Did a memory trigger some sadness in you that you found hard to shake? No matter what it is, take some time to sit with the Lord and go over it with Him. Sometimes we think He may not be interested in the little things we go through and only wants to hear the big stuff, but that’s not true. He is interested in every part of your life and wants to hear about it. If you have worries and concerns, bring them to Him and tell him and He will bring you peace and comfort. If you can’t shake the sadness, tell Him about it and He will take it from you. Did you mess up today and anger got the best of you and maybe you said or did something that hurt someone else or yourself? Confess it to Him so He can heal you and take it from you. Did you have a great day and are joyful? Let Him know because it makes Him joyful when you are joyful! He’s not just a God for troubling times but for joyful times as well!
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)
19When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. (Psalm 94:19)
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:17-18)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Whatever is concerning you tonight, surrender it to the Lord and allow Him to carry it. He knows what to do, we just have to be patient and allow Him to do His work in His time, not ours. He is a faithful God and keeps all of His promises. He knows what to do though it may not be what we think He should do. He will do what’s best for your situation or whomever you are concerned about. All you need is faith the size of a mustard seed which is quite small.
Lord, tonight I carry heavy burdens from the day (name them). Sometimes they seem to rollover into the next day and become heavier than the day before. I don’t want to carry them any longer but I’m afraid if I let go, something will happen. Lord, remove my fears and help me to turn all of this over to you. I know you can fix this far better than I can. Help me to have the faith I need to do this. I surrender this burden to you, Lord, take it from me and bring me your peace and comfort tonight and in the days ahead. Thank you for taking this problem from me. I trust you are in control and will do what’s right for me (or name the person with the problem). In Jesus name I pray…Amen.
