Jesus, Our Healer
As we walk through our healing and recovery journey, we come to realize just how much healing we can receive from the Word of God when we read and apply it to our lives. The more we nourish ourselves with it, the stronger we become. It covers all aspects of life.
To receive those benefits, we must nourish ourselves with the Word just as we feed our bodies on a daily basis. Sometimes life gets hectic and we think that even finding 5 minutes to consume the little bits of scripture we are able to read may not be enough. Well, if we look at this in a physical sense, how many times have we been hungry and was unable to have a full meal but either bought or brought a snack from home to tide us over until we are able to eat a meal? Kudos to you if you chose a healthy snack over junk food!
That snack strengthened you until you were able to have that full meal. It is the same spiritually. Every little bit of scripture that we can nourish ourselves with provides us the strength to drive on, especially when we are tired, discouraged or worried.
Below are some nourishing scriptures regarding health. Take time each day to nourish yourself until you can eat the full meal of the Word. It will give you the strength to continue on.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (Isaiah 40:29)
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.“ (Proverbs 13:12)
“Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.” (Proverbs 3:7-8)
“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30)
“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.” (Proverbs 15:30)
