BTC DIRECTORS:
Ken and Michelle Kavanagh
Ken and Michelle began their work in recovery programs in 2005 with Celebrate Recovery at the Church of the Nazarene in Junction City, KS. Michelle was on the leadership team and Ken drove the bus to transport people to and from the ministry. Once back in NY, they attended Life Church of the Nazarene in Watertown, NY and became Directors for Celebrate Recovery from 2005-2006. In 2006 they attended Church of God Soldiers of Jesus Christ (later known as New Harvest Church of God) and later developed and began Breaking The Chains Biblical Recovery Ministry in 2008. Since 2016, after receiving letters from inmates throughout the Unites States, their ministry extended into the prisons by way of uplifting letters and lessons. They currently attend River Community Church in Clayton, NY which is one of the locations Breaking The Chains is held.
Breaking The Chains currently meets in two locations:
River Community Church in Clayton, NY on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.
The Father’s House Prayer Chapel in Black River, NY on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:00pm
Ken is retired from the Army after serving 21 years. He has completed four years of college and has a B.A. in Church Leadership, Counseling Emphasis. Ken worked for and is now retired from Army Emergency Relief (AER) which assists soldiers and their family members in emergency situations.
Michelle volunteered and worked for the American Red Cross from 1995 – 2005 in the areas of Military Casework, Emergency Services, Disaster Services, and Health and Safety Services.
Both Ken and Michelle were certified in Youth Leadership through Church of God and were Youth Leaders for 18 months. Both have received a Diploma of Practical Theology through International Seminary.
Ken and Michelle continue to pray for God to help them reach those who need Christ’s healing.
