It’s Time To Go Into Your War Room!

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

(Matthew 6:6)

There comes a time when soldiers go to battle, but before they do, they train heavily and prepare strategically. They go over battle plans, making sure the course they will take is the correct one.  Without the planning and training, they will not succeed.

Spiritually, we must do the same. We must train and plan on a daily basis in order to succeed in the spiritual battle. We must pray, read the Word of God and utilize His Word in every trial, problem and concern. There are times, however, when we must go into our war room…our prayer closet…and go to battle during our most difficult times. That battle can be for a loved one, a friend, a city, a nation or our world. We are strongest on our knees and wielding the sword of the Spirit…the Word of God…the Bible.

Now is the time we must all be in our war room and praying, interceding for our nation and our world. Interceding for Christians around the world who are doing what God has called us all to do…the Great Commission…spreading the gospel. Interceding for our families and friends and praying that they will accept the free gift of salvation that God has given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, death on the cross. Interceding for those who are bound by addictions and emotional issues. Yes, we must enter into our war rooms and go to battle.

We serve a great and powerful God who allows us to come boldly before His throne in prayer in our time of need as we see in Hebrews 4:16:

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

All we have to do is ask in accordance with God’s will and He will hear us!:

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  (1 John 5:14)

What is it that is blocking your path to God or what He wants you to do? Who is telling you that you are not good enough to succeed? What is destroying you or your family at this time? Bring it before the Lord today in your war room and watch how God works! Remember…God’s ways and the worlds ways are entirely different. The world says “seek revenge!” but God states in Romans 12:19:

“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.”

Seeking revenge in any situation is not right and not godly. It is the way the enemy works and seeks to get us to work, drawing us away from God and into sin. Rather, Christ advises us in Matthew 5:43-45 to do the following:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,  that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

By doing so, this frees you from the bondage of anger and hatred, hurt and pain, and unforgiveness. These are things the enemy wants us bound in so we can remain in sin and not enter into the kingdom of heaven. We must remember what Christ says about forgiveness in Matthew 6:14-15:

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

You see, what the enemy doesn’t want you to know but God does is that it’s all about the heart. Our hearts have to be right in order to enter into the kingdom of heaven. But if we continue to hang on to our anger and hatred and continue on with lying, deceiving others and seeking only what our flesh wants and not what God wants, the path we are on won’t lead to heaven but will take a u-turn to hell.

This is why we must enter into our war rooms. We aren’t just battling for others, but we are battling for ourselves as well. We are battling to stay on the narrow path that leads to life that only few remain on as we see in Matthew 7:13-14:

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

We must enter into our war rooms and pray for God to strengthen our helmet of salvation which covers the mind. We must ask the Lord to protect our minds from negative thoughts and lies that can cause us to see our trials and problems through emotional eyes that can, in turn, cause us to make incorrect choices.  We must also pray for God to strengthen our breastplate of righteousness that covers our heart. We must pray that God will protect our hearts from damaging words and actions done to us by others and that our hearts will not grow cold but remain hearts of flesh. We want a heart that continues to love through the pain and hurt caused by others. Why? Because if our hearts turn cold, there will be no  love left in us…no warmth. What happens when the human heart stops working? It dies and the body grows cold. Spiritually the same can happen to us. If we allow negative words and actions by others to affect and infect us, we will become diseased and die spiritually. This means we will have no love in us, only hate. Jesus warns us in Matthew 24 about the signs of the times and in verses 11-13 He states the following:

“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.  And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.  But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”

Yes, it’s about the heart. Where is your heart at this time? Are you angry, hateful, hurt? Are you unable to forgive the wrongs that have been done to you? Is your heart full of rejection? Maybe you reach for that next drink, pill or food to soothe you so you don’t have to think about where your heart is. God, however, wants you to think about your heart because He wants you to come to Him now so He can heal your heart. He created you so He could fellowship with you, walk with you, talk with you and most of all, love you. He never wanted you to go through all of the pain you’ve been through but with a world full of sin, He knew it would happen. That’s why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you, giving you the free gift of salvation. We just have to confess our sins and repent and then believe in Jesus, that He died for our sins and is the Son of God.  Romans 10:9 states:

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

God is calling you to be with Him. He is knocking on the door of your heart but it’s up to you to answer and let Him in.

Whether we want to believe it or not, we are in a spiritual battle. But what better person to have on our side than Jesus Christ! The one who can heal, comfort and strengthen us.

It’s time to get into our war rooms and go to battle…battle for ourselves…our hearts…and then battle for our nation and world. Prayer is a powerful weapon. It can turn the tides and change the course of the battle from defeat to victory! Remember, we serve a victorious King…Jesus Christ. He’s already won the battle for us…we’ve just yet to walk through it!

Lord, as I sit/kneel in my war room, I come boldly before your throne to ask for forgiveness of my sins. God, I ask that you protect my mind and heart. I don’t want to have a cold heart. If there is any coldness in my heart, Lord, I ask that you show it to me and remove it from me. Lord, I pray that you will warm my heart with your love so, in turn, I can spread Your love to others. Help me to be more loving, more forgiving, more patient, and to see situations through clear eyes and not through eyes covered with negative emotions. Jesus, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ all around the world that You will provide them with strength and courage as they spread your gospel to others. They are battle weary but I pray that You will strengthen them on this day so they can continue moving forward! I pray for those who have yet to come to You. I pray for their salvation and that You will draw them to you so they can enter into your kingdom. Send someone their way to preach the gospel to them. Lord, I pray for those in prison. God I ask that you reach their hearts and heal them. Only you, Lord, can reach past the bars of a prison and move in a powerful way. I ask that you send out your Holy Spirit into all of the prisons throughout the world and reach the hearts of those who are lost, scared, angry and lonely. Draw them unto You, oh God, and break the spiritual chains that bind them. Let them know that even in jail, they can change and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to those around them. Finally Lord, I pray for all those who are spiritually bound in all ways. I pray Jesus that you will break their chains, including my own, and set us free from the chains that hinders us from moving forward. Set the captives free Lord…each and every one! I pray this in the name of Jesus…Amen.
